COLUMBIA, Mo. — The ɫ���� Board of Curators recently named 21 faculty members from across the UM System as Curators’ Distinguished Professors and Professors Emeriti.

"Recognizing our faculty with this distinction is the highest honor the board grants," Todd Graves, chair of the UM Board of Curators, said. "These designations acknowledge faculty members for their significant contributions to their fields and their outstanding scholarship. It's a privilege to honor them for their hard work and dedication to the mission of the ɫ���� and their respective universities."

The designation is given to faculty who have demonstrated exemplary research or teaching in their subject areas.

“UM System faculty are world-class, and we are pleased to recognize these 21 exceptional scholars for their commitment to teaching, research and meaningful engagement,” ɫ���� President Mun Choi said. “Their accomplishments drive our innovations and make a difference in the lives of students and all we serve in Missouri and beyond.”

This year’s recipients are:

Curators’ Distinguished Professors

Mizzou

• Donald Burke-Agüero, a professor of molecular microbiology and immunology in the School of Medicine and a principal investigator at Bond Life Sciences Center with a courtesy appointment in the Department of Biochemistry
• Sheila Grant, a professor of biological and biomedical engineering in the College of Engineering
• Scott H. Holan, a professor of statistics in the College of Arts and Science
• Raghuraman Kannan, a professor of radiology in the School of Medicine with a joint appointment in the College of Engineering
• R. Scott Rector, a professor of nutrition and exercise physiology in the School of Medicine with a joint appointment in College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, director of the Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health building, and associate dean for basic sciences in the School of Medicine
• John “Jack” Tanner, a professor of biochemistry with joint appointments in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and School of Medicine
• Wesley Warren, a professor of genomics in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and a principal investigator at Bond Life Sciences Center

UMKC 

• Jannette Berkley-Patton, a professor of biomedical and health informatics in the School of Medicine
• Timothy Cox, a professor of oral and craniofacial sciences in the School of Dentistry

• Daryl Beetner, a professor of electrical and computer engineering in the College of Engineering and Computing
• Fuewen “Frank” Liou, the Michael and Joyce Bytnar Product Innovation and Creativity Professor in the College of Engineering and Computing

UMSL

• Stephen Moehrle, chair and professor of accounting in the Ed G. Smith College of Business
• Michael Nichols, a professor of chemistry and biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences
• Lee Ann Slocum, a professor of criminology and criminal justice in the College of Arts and Sciences

• Anne Alexander, a teaching professor and director of legal analysis, research and communication in the School of Law
• Stephen Ball, a professor of physical therapy in the College of Health Sciences and state fitness specialist for MU Extension and Engagement
• Brian A. Silvey, a professor of music education, director of bands and interim director of the School of Music in the College of Arts and Science

• Gerald Wyckoff, chair and professor of pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences in the School of Pharmacy
